Who is “The Stig”?

As reported on Superquote on Sunday, Top Gear’s “The Stig” revealed himself to be Michael Schumacher in front of 7 million TV viewers. This sent waves of shock across the internet, with millions Twittering their suprise and disbelief.

As Monday morning came, news stories began to devalue the show’s revelation as another publicity stunt – which will not shock the show’s fan base who will be used to the format of Top Gear.

It would be nice to think that for the last few years that the white suited version of The Stig was the ex-world champion driver – however, if you take a look at Schumacher’s Wikipedia Page you will see that he is probably busier after his career than he ever was during – meaning that appearing weekly on the show was unlikely.

Rumours are rife that the mysterious “Stig” was played by more than one person – so maybe this persona is only a part-time job for Mr. Schumacher.
